Earlier in the year we asked children to put this into a picture with a supporting sentence. A huge thank you to everyone that entered our bookmark competition, we had hundreds of entries all of which were of an extremely high standard. We are now pleased to be able to show you our winners and runners-up.

The winners each receive £50 worth of book tokens. Each of the runners-up have won £20 worth of book tokens.

“I travelled back 2056 years ago to the river Nile in ancient Egypt. It was surrounded by dusty desert, hardly a plant in sight except for thin strips next to the river Nile. Queen Cleopatra sat on her throne waiting for the boat to arrive in the scorching sun.”

King Alfred's Community and Sports College, Wantage, Oxfordshire

“Reading means the world to me. It has taken me on a rollercoaster ride through time on the back of a dragon. It has taken me to a place where I can do what I want and have the experience of a lifetime. It has taken me over mountains and through forests full of magical creatures. Reading takes me to eternal bliss where I don't know where the current is going to take me.”

Friends School Lisburn, Lisburn, Co. Antrim

“Journey to the River Sea by Eva Ibbotson has taken me to the middle of the Amazon amongst the trees and inside the book. I liked this book because it was educational, funny and touching all at once! "

Drayton Manor High School, Hanwell, London

“The Horrible Historybooks have taken me to the past. Terry Deary has described what the ancient world was like so well that I can actually imagine myself being there. Other books like the Narnia series or the J.R. Tolkien books have described the scenes so outstandingly that I can imagine in my mind what is going on.”
